My favorite photo is paramount. The light shining on Duddy could be Babe Ruth shining down on Duddy passing his skills onto him. He is looking up and aspiring to be like his hero. Paramount is also the lighting technique I am most likely to use in the future. I think it looks the best and will be used professionally.

Motion Captured in Frames

Shutter Speed – 6.2 Aperture – f/11 ISO – 250
Shutter Speed – 1/85 seconds Aperture – f/14 ISO – 100
Shutter Speed – 1/85 Aperture – f/11 ISO – 100

This was a project I enjoyed. I have some advice for future photographers. The first piece would be to take advantage of every action. Keep your eye on whatever is happening and set up your tripod in a good spot.

Cretu Project – Float Like a Butterfly Sting Like a Bee

After spending time working on my Cretu assignment and project, I have a few reflections and comments about it to make. First off is that I enjoyed this project very much. The process of picking the right painting and the right celebrity to put on it was fun. It was also fun to complete the process of cropping out the celebrity’s face, placing it on the painting, editing the celebrity to match the art style, and to change the skin tone. I chose Muhammad Ali for this because I wanted to reinforce the idea that he was the greatest boxer of all time. I chose the original painting because it bears a resemblance to Muhammad Ali’s famous photo of him yelling at Sonny Liston to get up and fight him. For any future students, I would recommend using an art style that isn’t hard to replicate. Luckily for me, I found a filter that matched it very well. This made it a lot easier.

  1. The photo that demonstrates the most emotion is the Shadow photo. I tried using a mix of blue and red, because those are calm colors that represent peacefulness and passion. With the shadow casting against the back of the wall, it looks like the glassware could be facing some police sirens or some out of frame situation.
  2. The photo of the shadows make me wonder what is going on behind the camera. It could be police sirens or even some strange item or machine emitting a strange light.
  3. The colors of the shadow jump out to me. They are not normal shadow colors. Instead, they seem to be coming from some strange light. I also look at the front of the glass to see if there is the reflection of anything.
  4. The photo makes me feel calm because of the colors. The color blue and the color red are known to be calming. They demonstrate emotion the most out of any colors. That is why I chose them.
  5. For next years students, I would recommend they choose a good color for the shadow photo. This will greatly affect the photo. Another piece of advice is to choose a vibrant photo for the background of the apple. It helps to capture the background too.

This food was made to stand out!

Questions and Thoughts:

For the first photo in the school, I did not choose the food. I just saw my model on the field eating and thought it was the perfect photo. For the one at home, I wanted to choose an exotic or uncommon fruit so I chose a pineapple and put it on a blender to signify that pineapples are in smoothies.

The lighting in the school photo was during a foggy morning, which shows in my model’s attitude. He is laying down and tired and snacking. The at home photo was taken at night, with the only source of light being the overhead chandelier. This affects the photo because it highlights the pineapple.

The first photo I tried to use the RULE OF THIRDS, where I had the chip in his mouth, on his chest, and the chip bag in his hand on separate parts of the screen. The pineapple photo I tried to get CLOSE UP to the pineapple and have it covering the entire screen. I cropped these like this to focus on all parts of the food.

For the first photo, I made it vibrant to try and show all the variety of foods in the party mix. For the second photo, I tried to make it as vibrant as possible. Thats because it is a tropical fruit and is vibrant.

For the first photo I tried to make it look like it was taken from above at a bird’s eye view. This makes it look like a bird is watching him trying to get the food. For the second one I put the camera close up to the pineapple to try and show how tall it is.

For next years students, I recommend they choose photos that are easier to crop. My pineapple leaves were difficult to select to color in. I would also recommend choosing an odd food to make your photos stand out.

I was born to stand out…

One weakness I see in my own work is that it is often of random things. Other people had photos of flowers and things relating directly to the prompt. However, a strength of mine is that no matter what it is of is that it always ends up matching the prompt. In the next project, I will focus more directly on the prompt. The most meaningful image here is the Natural Line photo. You can clearly see he is plotting something devilish and mischievous, but the photo leaves us wondering what he was planning. Next photoshoot I would focus more on nature and the actual building of Oratory. I will try taking more photos from behind other things next time, For example, a photo of something through a fence.

What I enjoyed most about this project was being able to go outside and take photos. Going outside during class is a new experience to me. It was also fun to get outside.

I faced many different challenges. The first was that I forgot my camera battery in the school. Another was that since my partner was absent, I had to carry many things at once.

Next photo shoot I will do it with my partner. I will take more wildlife photos if possible. I will also try to take more photos.
